Local fire departments assist with rescue of injured snow machiner.

Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department, the Moose Pass Volunteer Fire Department, along with  Alaska State Trooper Powell responded to an injured snow machiner  in the Seward Area over the weekend.  According to Megan Peters, spokesperson for AST, 19 year old Kevin Cabana was riding his snow machine when he hit a tree.  Initial reports were that he had suffered a broken leg.  LifeMed was initally dispatched, but was unable to fly due to poor weather.  AST Helo1 was launced and proceeded to the victim’s location.  Cabana was transported via Helo1 to Providence Hospital in Anchorage with non-life threatening injuries, Peters reported.
