A cluster of eight 90-year old spruce trees at the AVTEC Second Avenue trailhead to Two Lakes Park blew over in last November’s wind and rainstorm. Recently the leaning stumps were removed for safety reasons. It is amazing to the clean bedrock these trees were growing on, in only a few inches of “soil.” Tough trees!
In other news, Second Lake is frozen except for the inlet and outlet. Hockey players, kids, and other ice skaters are enjoying the smooth ice. First Lake is NOT safe as both the inlet and outlet areas and a large part of the lake remain open.
