FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The following schedule is for residents in the Seward Bear Creek Flood Service Areas (SBCFSA) to return water test kits on the day that a well is tested. The schedule will be updated when testing is available to other communities as flood waters recede and it is safe to test your well. You may also contact Tauriainen Engineering & Testing, located in Soldotna at 262-4624.
Testing an on-site well may only be successfully completed AFTER the flood waters have receded and the homeowner has properly followed the directions to disinfect and flush the well. Premature testing will not give accurate results while the property is still flooded or if the water table is still high. Directions to disinfect, flush and test the well are included with the test kit.
Homeowners are highly encouraged to read the directions BEFORE purchasing a test kit. Please visit www.flood.alaska.gov to download the online directions. You may also contact the local DEC Soldotna office at 262-3420 or Tauriainen Engineering & Testing, located in Soldotna at 262-4624.
The test kit may be picked up at the KPB Seward extension office during regular business hours. However, the water must be tested and returned on one of the following days to meet the required delivery time to Tauriainen Engineering & Testing. You must complete and return test kit BEFORE noon on the same day.
