SHS Student will be KPBSD student-rep

Representatives from Seward High School’s student council recently travelled to Soldotna for the Kenai Peninsula Borough’s district-wide meeting. Their goal was to elect new members for a variety of committees and to select one of their number to serve as a member on the school board.
After a variety of seminars and workshops, students gathered to hear candidates’ speeches and elect their new representative. After the dust had settled, Seward’s own student council president Hayden Beard was elected to the position of student representative to the KPBSD School Board. Hayden will be charged with attending all of the school board’s meetings to provide student input for guiding policy and informing the board of the student viewpoint when making important decisions.

Hayden proved himself to be a capable young politician by working the room for votes during lunch, and delivering a great speech to his peers. It has been many years since Seward has had a student representative on the KPBSD Board, and Seward High School is proud of his accomplishment.
