KPB Permitting Fees Waived

Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Mike Navarre has waived permitting fees for residents with flood-damaged properties as they prepare to reconstruct, refurbish or rebuild those damaged areas. This waiver is available to all residents with damaged property and is not related to the State’s Individual Assistance program.

Permits are still required through the Donal R Gilman River Center and are available on line at http://www.kenairivercenter.org/Permits/Permits.html

The fee waiver is effective until November 27, 2012, so residents are encouraged to apply soon.

“This is a small thing the borough can do to help affected residents in flood-damaged area,” said Mayor Navarre. “We understand people want to start the rebuilding process as soon as possible and we will do everything we can to assist.”

River Center staff are available at 714-2460 to answer questions.

Residents who believe their property assessed values could be reduced due to danges may file a claim for reduced assessment and abatement of taxes. The form is available online at http://www2.borough.kenai.ak.us/Assessingdept/Forms/DISASTER.PDF

Claims must be submitted within 60 days after the damage occurred.

  1. The damage must exceed 10K and the forms are also available in the Borough office located in the Sea View Plaza building. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Thanks.
