Flood Update #14

*New Information:
The National Weather Service has an updated flood warning, which is in effect until 4:00 p.m. Saturday
Electric Outage Update: Power has been restored to Wilma. There is currently no power on Lois; electric crews and borough crews are working to re-establish road access on Lois before power can be turned on.

Lowell Point Road Update: Crews continue to work at the Lowell Creek Waterfall. The road to Lowell Point is open until 6:00 p.m. tonight. The road is expected to be open from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, depending upon the weather.
The Teen and Youth Center will have the facility open tonight for the teens beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Emergency Operations Center urges residents to limit their travel today, and for everyone’s safety, please steer clear of problem areas and crews working.
Road Updates:
• DIECKGRAEFF ROAD: closed at Maple Street, the new levee is holding.


• NASH ROAD: open, one lane traffic at mile 2
• SEWARD HIGHWAY: the travel advisory remains in effect. Use caution. Mile 3.5 has flaggers and is open to one lane traffic.
• LOWELL POINT ROAD: limited access from 9-10 am, 12-1 pm, and 4-6 pm (no heavy equipment). Otherwise closed for the rest
• QUESTA WOODS/BRUNO: experiencing flooding
Traffic advisories issued for all Seward area roads.
*Previous Information:
High tide is 5:28 p.m., estimated to rise up to 10.8 feet.
The Kenai Peninsula Borough is focusing efforts on the Old Mill/Lost Creek area, Questa Woods/Kwechek Creek area, and Exit Glacier Road – Old Exit/Box Canyon/Wilma area.
The Kenai Peninsula Borough is coordinating with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) to provide assistance with water quality testing. Homeowners that may be concerned about well water or septic tanks being damaged due to flooding are encouraged to call the ADEC office in Kenai at 907-262-3408 for more information.
Sports and sports travel for the Seward schools are cancelled for Friday, and Saturday will be evaluated. Cross Country Borough’s has been moved to Skyview High School.
The shelter remains closed, if anyone needs shelter assistance please call the Emergency Operations Center and they will make arrangements. Seward Animal Shelter is able to take pets for those evacuating their homes. Call Shellie at 907-491-0000.
The water system for the City of Seward remains intact, and two potable water sites are available for personal container fill-ups at the RV dump stations located at B Street and Ballaine.
