Seward Middle School Eighth grader Noah Hamlin’s poster is among the over 350,000 entries submitted worldwide in the 22nd annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Lions Club International sponsors the contest to emphasize the importance of world peace to young people everywhere.
Noah’s poster was selected by Resurrection Bay Lions Club members for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme.

Resurrection Bay Lions Club joined Lions clubs around the world to proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest at Seward Middle School this year. Club President Cindy Beardsley was impressed by the expression and creativity of the eighth grade students. Noah’s poster represented the local club at the Lions Club District 49A conference.

The 2009-10 theme for the contest was “The Power of Peace.” Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, were eligible to participate. Lion Kathy McDevitt coordinated the program with Seward Middle School teacher Laura Beck. Laura’s eighth grade students joined students from around the world in sharing their visions of world peace.

The contest is based on an original annual theme incorporating peace. Student can use a variety of mediums, including charcoal, crayon, pencil and paint. The works created are unique and express the young artists’ life experiences and culture.

Please join Wells Fargo, Resurrection Bay Lions Club and Seward Middle School 8th grade students from 4-5pm Tuesday November 24th in the bank lobby to celebrate the posters created for this contest. There will be refreshments. The international grand prize and merit award winners can be viewed at www.lionsclubs.org.

Resurrection Bay Lions Club is grateful to Seward Middle School, Laura Beck and her students, Wells Fargo and Safeway for supporting this program focusing on world peace. Wells Fargo has generously displayed all the students entries in their lobby and invites the community to enjoy Seward students’ vision of “The Power of Peace.” through November.
