*The district is asking that all parents return in the H1N1 consent forms whether they say yes or no to the vaccine. We need to prove that we have given everyone the option of the vaccine. Please try and get them back as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please call Nurse Yoly at 224-9018 ; leave a message if she is not there.
*Please remember that sick children should stay home from school. You can check Edline or call the school to get missing assignments.
*After school tutoring with Mr. Plan is available every Mon-Wed from 2:30-3:30. Please attend if you need help, are behind on assignments or just need a quiet place to work.
*Students in Course 3 Math with Miss Fischer: don’t forget that the POW is due on Thursday. There will be a homework quiz on Friday. Stay after school and work with Mr. Plan if you need extra help.
*Miss Fischer’s 8th Grade Science: We will have a quiz over the matter terms sometime this week. The matter notes and review homework are posted on Edline. Use these to study for the quiz. We will be doing labs for most of the week, so it is important to be here on time.
*Picture retake forms are now available at the office. Retake day is Wednesday, November 11th.
*Miss Liljemark’s class will have a test over the Mesopotamia unit on Wednesday, November 11th.
*Battle of the Books students are meeting each week at lunch on Tuesday and Thursday in Mrs. Beck’s room to work over titles and authors and discuss the twelve BOB books.
*Ski Season is Around the Corner! Students who will be interested in joining skiing should attend the Ski Swap on November 14th at the High School to rent or purchase gear for the season. There will be new and used gear for purchase as well as rental equipment available. There will be a short pre-season gear meeting the week before the ski swap during lunch, listen for announcements. – Coach Nichols 224-9057
*We will be doing the School Based H1N1 vaccination Clinic here at the middle school on Nov. 19th, Thursday from 09-Noon or until finished. We will start at the MS with the volunteers at 8am. The vaccine is still voluntary and will be free of charge. The consent forms and vaccine information sheets will be going out to families soon. . Please call Nurse Yolanda Ifflander at 224-9018 if you would be willing to help with paperwork and organization on the vaccination day. *2009-2010 SWMS Yearbooks are on sale now for spring arrival. These must be pre-ordered and are $23.00 for a 32 page color yearbook of school activities, sports teams and school photos. Please make checks out to SWMS and put the students name on the memo. Checks may be given to Mrs. Beck in the 8th grade pod.
*Cell Phones, mp3 players and other electronic devices are not allowed out in school except at lunch time. If these devices are seen out at any time other than lunch and after school they will be confiscated and taken to the office for pick-up after school (on the first offense), and by parents on subsequent offenses.

SPORTS
*Basketball practice daily after school. See this week’s Tale Flipper for more on last week’s games.
*Their will be home basketball games against Homer starting this Saturday (11/14) at the middle school at 1:00. Come out and cheer on your Seward Silvers.

*Today, Monday, November 9th, is the deadline for ordering a beautiful wreath or garland from the Seward PTSA. To purchase a beautiful 24” live mixed Wreath for $25.00 or a wonderfully fragrant 25 foot live all-cedar Garland for $30.00, mail a check with all the following order information to Seward PTSA Arts, P.O. Box 409, Seward, AK 99664.
Include your phone number, email, and residence (physical) address. Personal delivery to your home or business in the Seward area from Forest Acres to town is an additional $5.00 donation. Thank you for your support of our schools!
*The Seward Community Library is having their monthly Anime showing on November 14th at 4 pm. If any teen between 7th and 12th grade is interested in joining us for the first InuYasha movie, they are welcome. Admission is free as are the refreshments.
