CENTRAL PENINSULA GARDEN CLUB Bonus Program & Workshop.
Rock Garden Construction and Alpine Plants, presented by Jaime Rodriguez, owner of the Alpine Garden Nursery in Wasilla and President of the Alaska Rock Garden Society.  Learn how to construct the rock part of a rock garden and the names of Alaska hardy alpine plants that love to grow in them.
Jaime is an extremely knowledgeable and a truly dynamic speaker.
Date/Time: Friday October 23rd, 7pm,
This bonus program is open to the public.
Refreshments served.
Location: Cook Inlet Aquaculture Bldg. on K-Beach Rd., near the Bridge Access Rd., intersection.

And on Saturday October 24, 1-4pm, at the Aquaculture Building on K-Beach Road:
“Makin’ Babies: Propagating Plants from Cuttings.”  This workshop will

feature a lecture and power point presentation describing the different techniques for taking cuttings, the kinds of cuttings, when to take them, and what to do with them once you have them, followed by a “hands on” opportunity to trim some cuttings and take home a few small pots with plants that will root over time. Samples to try will include some hardy perennials, trees & shrubs, evergreens, various houseplants, Fuchsia, zonal geraniums and scented geraniums, etc. There will be something available for all skill and experience levels, from easy to root plants for beginners and a few toughies for those who want the challenge.

Registration is still open for the Plant Propagation workshop on Saturday, Oct 24th, 1-4pm at the Aquaculture building.  Fee is $10 for members and non-members.  Pay at the door.  Workshop limit, 45 people.

Regular monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month, 7pm at the Aquaculture Building on K-Beach Road.  Programs are open to the public.  Annual dues are $20, couples $30. Refreshments served and sometimes door prizes.

The next regular program meeting will be Tuesday, November 3. The prgram is Dwight Bradley of Dwight Bradley Orchards in Chugach, speaking about the unusually low fruit production this past summer, orchard management and production.
