The Following New Business Items Requiring a Public Hearing Were Postponed, Time Definite, Until October 8, 2009:

Resolution 2009-21, of the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission, Granting a Variance From Seward City Code 15.10.220 Development Requirements to Allow the Annual Temporary Placement of a Membrane Structure Within the 5 foot West Setback, From October 15 Through April 15 on Lot 1A, Block 1, Marina Subdivision, 1301 Fourth Avenue, Harbor Commercial Zoning District

The Following New Business Items were Approved:

Set a Planning and Zoning Work Session for September 15, 2009 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to discuss Title 15 Floodplain Ordinance completions and Title 15, Sign Code review

The following new business items were approved:

Jacquie Pels was awarded the 2009 Seward Historic Preservation Award.
Jolund Luther was elected Chairman and Linda Lasota was elected Vice-Chair.

Vacancies on the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission and the Historic Preservation Commission

There is currently one seat vacant on the Planning and Zoning Commission, with a term expiring February 2012, open to those who reside in city limits.  There is currently one seat vacant on the Historic Preservation Commission, with a term expiring May 2010, open to residents of Seward and the surrounding area.  Please pick up applications at the Office of the City Clerk, Monday through Friday, 8-5, or feel free to stop by if you have any questions.

LOWELL PT. ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE
On September 22nd the City of Seward electric department will be performing essential repair work on Lowell Point Road.  The Power line is underground and will require a power outage at Lowell Point as well as intermittent road closures and one lane traffic of Lowell Point Road.  The work will begin at roughly 8:30 A.M. and is expected to take approximately one working day.   To minimize the outage, the electric department will not disable the power until the cable has been uncovered.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.  If you have any additional questions please call Kat Shipe at 907-224-4073.

The Division of Fire and Life Safety would like to remind you its time to check your smoke and CO alarms and change the batteries.
