SCFThe Seward Community Foundation (SCF) has continued to be busy throughout the summer and is excited to tell you about the progress that’s been made.

Recently, SCF awarded $250 to the Seward Senior Center via a mini grant. Mini grant applications are available via email and are eligible for review throughout the year. The Seward Senior Center will use the funds received to aid in the purchase of a much needed piece of equipment.  Congratulations!

As well, SCF has developed a strategic planning document with the help of Kitty Farnham and Providence Health Care Systems. This plan outlines the goals and objectives for SCF through the year 2013.

The next step for SCF includes providing educational opportunities to the public. Topics include planned giving, SCF’s granting process, how community foundations work and much, much more. Look for future communications regarding these opportunities from the newly developed SCF Communications Committee.

Finally, SCF would like to invite you to consider being on its Board of Directors. This is an exciting way to get involved in improving the quality of life for the Seward and Moose Pass communities. Board Member Applications are due by October 1, 2009 and can be mailed to PO Box 933 Seward, AK 99664 or simply turn them in to an existing Board Member (Chellie Skoog, Julie Tauriainen, Paul Rupple, Darcie Larson, Margaret Anderson, Patty Beals, Judi Christiansen, Jim Fredrickson, Kim Reierson, Vanta Shafer or Jackie Wilde).
If you are interested in joining the Board or if you would like additional information about the Seward Community Foundation, please contact us at seward@alaskacf.org. Thank you!
