By the end of today you should receive an email from DOT [See below] outlining the public meeting they have scheduled in the Seward City Hall Council Chambers on April 20th from 12pm- 2pm.

At this time the City is requesting your assistance in providing information in regards to the April 24th at 10pm to April 27th 5am highway closure.  DOT is questioning the demand for a train in and out of Seward during that weekend’s highway closure.  The City would like to provide DOT with information on what the demand would be for that weekend.   ARR has stated that their capability would be limited to a 78 passenger train and engine running between Seward/Moose Pass.  There are 40 parking spots in Moose Pass for those who would leave their cars there.  ARR will NOT run a train from Seward to Anchorage because of the avalanche danger and they are informing DOT that their 40 passenger rail bus will not be available.  To recap, if businesses could either send the City and/or Rick Feller quantitative numbers of the demand, DOT is willing to examine providing alternative transportation with ARR if there are significant users.  The City is advocating for whatever is needed.

Thank you for your help with this inquiry.
