Traffic Changes and Highway Closures

Seward, AK – March 26, 2009 – The Seward Chamber of Commerce was just notified by the Alaska Department of Transportation that they will be installing temporary bridges over Ptarmigan and Falls Creeks in April.

They will likely start the first week in April. During the daytime, flaggers will be on the Highway between 8 am and 6 pm, Monday through Saturday. They have indicated that traffic should be stopped for only 15 minutes at a time.

Beginning on April 24th, at 10 PM, DOT will CLOSE the Highway. The Highway will remain CLOSED until 5 AM on April 27th. Please look at your schedules now, as this closure would be for the entire weekend.
