The Seward Mariners’ Memorial committee would like to express our gratitude to Deborah Altermatt and the Seward Rotary nominating committee for selecting our project as the benefactor of the Rotary’s annual benefit fundraiser. The more than $2,000 raised at the Nov. 14 wine tasting held at the Holiday Inn Express will help immensely in bringing Seward’s much-needed memorial closer to reality. The community support expressed at the event was truly heartwarming. We also appreciate the opportunity to solicit input as how best to honor those who have departed from our shores, never to return, as well as individuals who have contributed to our town’s seafaring history.

The City of Seward has dedicated a Mariners’ Memorial site on the south harbor uplands looking out over Resurrection Bay. To date, we have no firm commitment on a design and continue to solicit ideas. Let us know what you think!
