2008 QS2’s What ‘Sup Fair for Teens (and their parents)

Friday, September 19, 2008

For groups, organizations to participate in the 2008 Community QS2’s “What is up?” or ‘Sup Fair for Teens. The idea of this fair is to host groups, clubs, sports teams, churches, music, art and drama choices, and service organizations gather in one spot at one time to provide information to teens and their staff (… or parents) about “What’s up in Seward for Teens” We all hear, “There’s nothing fun to do in Seward.” Help us dispel that ugly rumor by displaying the plethora of opportunities. Will be held in the High School Commons area.

  1. Pick up forms at Seward Parks and Recreation, SPRD at the Sports and Rec Gym located at 519 4th Ave. Forms are due 5:00 pm on Wed, Sept 17. Please make sure the form is complete. Submit ASAP, so that we may reserve your space and plan more effectively.

  2. Each group should have at least one (adult?) representative at their table from set-up to clean-up.

  3. Times: Set-up time will begin at 4:30 pm., Friday, September 19th. Clean-up will begin at 7:00 pm, immediately following the fair.

  4. All groups/organizations will be responsible for bringing their own small table (if needed), flyers to distribute, mailing list sign up sheets, give away gifts, or raffles (if desired).

  5. A/V [Audio/Visual] (If you wish to show a video provide a laptop PowerPoint presentation, bring your own equipment.) Power outlets will be available on a first registered, first served basis. Only one outlet per group.

QS2 = Quality Schools, Quality Students. This ‘Sup Fair is a project of the Kenai Peninsula Borough program, QS2. Volunteers working in the Community Engagement Committee hope to tackle three of four identified Action Items through the ‘Sup Fair: Strengthen Community Support or Youth; Develop Community Collaboration among Youth Programs; and Increase the number and variety of out-of-school time offerings. The City SPRD is helping coordinate the event, but this is a community program, not a City function.
