The Following Resolutions Were Amended And Approved:
Resolution 2008-059, Clarifying Monthly And Quarterly Financial Reporting Requirements.
Resolution 2008-066, Authorizing The City Manager To Enter Into A Purchase Agreement With Valley Power Systems For The Purchase Of Radiators And Exhaust Silencers, For A Total Amount Not-To-Exceed $515,788.00 And Appropriating Funds.
The Following Resolutions Were Approved:
Resolution 2008-060, Accepting A Grant From The State Of Alaska DCCED In The Amount Of $1,750,000 For The Purpose Of Constructing The Japanese Creek Levee/Road.
Resolution 2008-061, Accepting A Grant From The State Of Alaska DCCED In The Amount Of $61,250 For The Purpose Of Fish Ditch Restoration.
Resolution 2008-062, Accepting A Grant From The State Of Alaska DCCED In The Amount Of $195,000 For The Purpose Of Constructing A Waterfront Pavilion.
Resolution 2008-063, Accepting The 2008 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant (VFA) In The Amount Of $5,212, Authorizing The 10% Matching Funds From The Existing Volunteer Budget, And Appropriating Funds.
Resolution 2008-064, Authorizing The City Manager To Execute A Grant Agreement Between The State Of Alaska And The City Of Seward For The Purpose Of Providing Public Access To The Seward Historical Site Inventory On The Seward Historic Preservation Commission Website And Appropriating Funds.
Resolution 2008-065, Authorizing The City Manager To Execute A Grant Agreement Between The Alaska Humanities Forum And The City Of Seward In The Amount Of $20,500 With A Required City Match Of $1,500, For The Purpose Of Celebrating Alaska’s 50 Years Of Statehood, And Appropriating Funds.
Resolution 2008-067, Authorizing The Purchase Of Two 75 Horsepower Engines For The City’s 21’ Boston Whaler In The Amount Of $17,030, And Appropriating Funds.
The June 23, 2008 Regular and Special City Council Meeting Minutes were approved.
Ron Long and Paul Tougas were reappointed to serve on the Port and Commerce Advisory Board for a term to expire in July 2011.
A work session was scheduled for September 2, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. for the Bird Efficiency Study.
A work session on community economic issues was tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
A work session with the topic of Energy was scheduled for Monday, July 21, 2008 at 5:00 pm with a Special Meeting, if needed, scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 7:00 pm. (The special meeting has now been cancelled)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct an appeal hearing on the following item of business at a meeting on Thursday, July 24, 2008.
An Appeal from an Administrative Decision Interpreting Flood Hazard Area Permitting Requirements for Development in Japanese Creek According to Seward City Code Chapter 15.25.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Seward City Council, Historic Preservation Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission and the Port and Commerce Advisory Board are invited to the 2008 Welcome Party for the Obihiro Exchange Students. The party will take place on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Legend’s Building.

SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
NOTICE OF VACANCIES
The City Council is seeking applications from city residents interested in serving on the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission. There are two seats available.
Application forms are available in the Office of the City Clerk. Completed application forms and conflict of interest statements must be filed with the Clerk.
HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
NOTICE OF VACANCY
The City Council is seeking applications from those interested in serving on the Historic Preservation Commission. Membership on the Commission is open to residents of Seward and the surrounding area. There is one seat vacant.
The Historic Preservation Commission meets at least twice a year in the City Council Chambers and at such other times as may be requested by the Commission Chair or the Administration.
There is one commission seat vacant, with a term expiring May 2010. Application forms are available in the office of the City Clerk. Completed applications must be filed with the office of the City Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2008. In addition, applicants are asked to address the Council at its August 11, 2008 meeting regarding their qualifications to serve on the Commission. Later that evening the City Council will select an applicant to serve until May 2010.
