Please join Seward’s community Americorps members for a campsite cleanup on Exit Glacier Road, July 5th at 12:00 noon. We will meet at the pullout at the intersection of Exit Glacier/Old Exit Glacier approx 2.5 miles from Seward Hwy. You’ll be assigned a section of road and will leave bags of trash along side the road. We’ll sweep through when everyone reports back and bring it all to the transfer facility. Bring a bicycle if you’ve got one, as it ought to be a very nice day. We’re focusing our effort on the section of road where people camp. Be prepared to greet groggy campers with a smile and offer them a trash bag for picking up after themselves. You might also ask about the condition of the campsite when they arrived so we can have that information as well. If you cant make it, please tell a friend. If you have any questions, please call Andy Bacon at 491-3228. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you out there!

Didn’t know we had Americorps workers back in Seward? Is there more than one (Andy?). What is their project and which local organization are they sponsored by?
Glad to have these dedicated citizens doing their part for our community!

Hi,
There are currently 5 Americorps members working at the SeaLife Center. 3 of us started last September and our term of service ends in exactly one month. The other two started in February and will also finish in August.
In addition to that there are 10 members working on trail maintenance at Exit Glacier. They are working all over the peninsula and are based out of Indian.
Also, I should mention that it looks like we’ve got this trash collection thing covered. Odds are we’re just going to run into campers and hand them trash bags. I just want there to be a community presence down there letting people know they cant just leave stuff. If you’re so inclined, come out and check on us.
