Question: I’ve noticed that drivers do not stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk on 3rd and Van Buren, why not?

Answer: This crosswalk is well marked with hash marks painted on the roadway as well as signs pointing to the crosswalk. I think drivers are simply not paying attention. Drivers who fail to stop for pedestrians who are within the crosswalk upon the half of the roadway upon which their vehicle is traveling could receive a citation for $100.00 and 4 points.
