We here at the Seward City News would like to send the candidates for city council and mayor ten questions to answer as a kind of interview. What questions would you ask the candidates? Please send us your questions to sewardcitynews@gmail.com.
Sincerely,

I would ask the candidate what they consider to be the role of a councilperson or mayor. What time do they feel needs to be committed to the job. Do they feel that the city budget should be cut, increased or stay the same? If cuts, where, if increases, where? Thanks for asking for input.

It is typical for candidates running for office to promise that they will welcome citizen’s input to their decisions. This definitely wasn’t the case in two recent instances where there was a strong public outcry against a Council action ( Mariners Landing lease and the vacation of Washington Street) The public was ignored in favor of special interests. If you gain office, will you listen to the concerns of common ordinary citizens, and not just desires of the influential factions?
