METCO MARINERS WIN RECREATIONAL SOFTBALL LEAGUE TOURNEY

rec-league-champs-2.jpeSeward’s adult Recreational Softball League came to a close Tuesday the 24th with the Metco Mariners on top. All Kinds of Trouble, managed by John Osenga, faced the Mariners, managed by Michelle Travis, in the play-offs but was unable to take the field due to a player shortage. Petey’s Penguins, managed by Mike and SueBanas, edged out the Sea Sluggers, managed by Deb and Scott Crosby, to face the Mariners in the Championship game.Big hitters Lisa Steinbrecher, Chris Ferguson and Ryan Dieckgraeff and consistent base hits from the rest of the team, helped the Mariners maintain a healthy lead peteys-2nd-place.jpethroughout the game. Petey’s kept the Mariners fielders on their toes however, with a couple of hard at em’ balls to short stop that caused errors and fence busting hits out to right field by NormRegis. Karen Lechner also kept the outfielders busy consistently knocking the ball out beyond second base. The old adage “time flies when you are having a good time” rang true that evening with great ball playing and good laughs that was over with entirely too quickly!
